2014 Portugal Home – Ronaldo #7 Medium

Tournament Overview

This is the shirt Portugal wore at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. They were drawn in a tough Group G with Germany, the USA and Ghana. The campaign opened badly with a 4–0 defeat to Germany in Salvador. Pepe was sent off before half-time in that match.

Portugal recovered with a dramatic 2–2 draw against the USA in Manaus, which included a goal deep in stoppage time. They then beat Ghana 2–1 in Brasília. That left them level on four points with the USA, but with an inferior goal difference. They went out in the group stage, even though Germany went on to win the tournament. It remains one of the most talked-about World Cup campaigns in Portuguese football history.

Player’s Impact – Cristiano Ronaldo

Ronaldo arrived in Brazil as captain of Portugal and the reigning world player of the year. He had just won the Champions League with Real Madrid and scored 31 league goals that season. He came into the tournament with knee and thigh problems, and he played through them from the opening match.

His first goal of the tournament came in the final group game against Ghana. He hit the bar and had a header saved earlier in the match. In the 80th minute he finished with his left foot to score the winner. It wasn’t enough to keep Portugal in the competition, but it gave him a goal at a World Cup in which he carried much of his nation’s hopes. For collectors, the number 7 and the Ronaldo name make this shirt a true piece of that era.

This is an authentic original Nike home shirt from the 2014 season. It is a Medium with short sleeves and the sponsor on the front. It is in 10/10 condition and is one-of-one.
