2010 Brazil Training – Small

The 2010 international season was a significant chapter for the Brazil national football team, culminating in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Managed by Dunga, Brazil entered the tournament as one of the favorites, having won the 2009 Confederations Cup and established a disciplined, counter-attacking identity that differed from traditional free-flowing Brazilian stereotypes.

In the World Cup, Brazil progressed confidently through the group stage, defeating North Korea (2–1), Ivory Coast (3–1), and drawing with Portugal (0–0) to finish top of Group G. They then overcame Chile 3–0 in the Round of 16 with controlled authority. However, in the quarter-finals, Brazil were eliminated by the Netherlands after surrendering a first-half lead, losing 2–1 in one of the tournament’s most dramatic tactical turnarounds.

The campaign was seen as both competitive and frustrating — organized and efficient, yet lacking the creative spark many associate with Brazil’s historical identity. The 2010 cycle ultimately marked the end of Dunga’s tenure and the beginning of another stylistic reassessment.
