The 2006–07 season was one of the most dramatic and emotionally charged in recent Real Madrid history. After a turbulent start and midseason managerial friction, Fabio Capello guided the club to an improbable La Liga title, their first since 2003. Despite being criticized for his pragmatic style and falling short in Europe and the Copa del Rey, Capello’s team showed incredible resilience — most famously through a series of comebacks in the final months of the campaign. Ironically, Capello was dismissed just days after lifting the league trophy.

• La Liga: 🏆 1st Place – finished tied on points with Barcelona (76 pts) but won the title on head-to-head record

• UEFA Champions League: ❌ Round of 16 (eliminated by Bayern Munich on away goals)

• Copa del Rey: ❌ Round of 16 (lost to Real Betis)
  ➡️ Known as the “Remontada” season — Real Madrid clawed back several times to secure must-win games down the stretch, including legendary performances against Sevilla, Espanyol, and Zaragoza.
