Season Overview

The 2018–19 season was a dominant domestic campaign for FC Barcelona, as the club secured another La Liga title under manager Ernesto Valverde. The 2018–19 season was one of the greatest individual campaigns of Lionel Messi’s career. Wearing the captain’s armband, Messi operated as Barcelona’s creator, finisher, and emotional leader simultaneously.

Messi produced extraordinary numbers, scoring 51 goals in all competitions and winning both the La Liga Golden Boot and the European Golden Shoe. Operating as a free-roaming forward/playmaker, he drifted between midfield and attack, dictating tempo while remaining Barcelona’s primary goal scorer.
