2018 PSG Home – Neymar #10 Large

Season Overview

The 2018-19 campaign was Thomas Tuchel’s first season in charge at Paris Saint-Germain. It opened with a 4–0 win over Monaco in the Trophée des Champions. In Ligue 1, PSG clinched a second straight title on 21 April 2019, finishing on 91 points and 16 clear of runners-up Lille. Along the way came a 9–0 demolition of Guingamp, the club’s biggest home win.

Europe ended in heartbreak. PSG won 2–0 at Old Trafford in the Champions League last 16, then lost 1–3 at the Parc des Princes and went out on away goals to Manchester United. They also fell short in the Coupe de France, finishing as runners-up, and went out in the Coupe de la Ligue quarter-finals. This blue home shirt, with its bold red central stripe and Fly Emirates sponsor, is the one the league champions wore that season.

Player’s Impact – Neymar Jr

Neymar wore the number 10 and was the creative centre of Tuchel’s attack alongside Kylian Mbappé and Edinson Cavani. By the time he picked up his injury, he had scored 20 goals in 21 appearances across all competitions. Mbappé was the club’s top scorer with 33 league goals, but Neymar was the player who made the attack work.

His season turned on 23 January 2019, when he injured his right metatarsal against Strasbourg in the Coupe de France. The injury kept him out for around 10 weeks and ruled him out of both legs against Manchester United. It was the same foot and the same area he had hurt a year earlier. For collectors, a Neymar #10 shirt from this season is a piece of the star era in Paris and of a season that came so close to a European breakthrough.
