Season Overview

Arsenal’s 2009–10 campaign under Arsène Wenger ended with a third-place Premier League finish, an FA Cup exit in the fourth round, a League Cup exit in the fifth round and a Champions League quarter-final. Wenger set the team up in a fluid 4–3–3 to get the most out of Cesc Fàbregas’s creativity. The start was impressive, with 36 goals in the first 11 league games.

The finish was less happy. Arsenal ended 11 points behind champions Chelsea. In Europe they were beaten by reigning champions Barcelona over two legs. For collectors, this is the Nike home shirt from the last years of the Emirates-era Fàbregas side. It is a Gunners kit with real nostalgia and a lot of “what if” about it.

Player’s Impact – Cesc Fàbregas

Fàbregas was the heartbeat of this Arsenal team. He had joined from Barcelona’s academy in 2003 and had captained the side since 2008, known for his vision, passing and leadership. In the 2009-10 Premier League he made 27 appearances and scored 15 goals. That made him the club’s top league scorer, and he also led the club with 19 goals in all competitions.
