Season Overview

The 2014-15 campaign was a season of transition at Anfield. Liverpool had finished the previous season as Premier League runners-up, and Brendan Rodgers' side started with high expectations and a return to the Champions League for the first time since 2009. The group stage ended in third place, which sent the Reds into the Europa League, where they were knocked out in the last 32. Domestically they reached the semi-finals of both the FA Cup and the League Cup, but neither run ended in silverware.

In the league, Liverpool finished sixth with 18 wins, 8 draws and 12 defeats, on 62 points. Raheem Sterling emerged as a genuine star, and Philippe Coutinho, Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana all had roles in a squad that was changing around its captain. This Warrior home shirt is the one that defined that year, in classic Liverpool red with fine white detailing.

Player's Impact – Steven Gerrard

This was Steven Gerrard's 17th and final season at Liverpool, and the shirt carries that weight. He was the club's top scorer in all competitions with 13 goals, including 9 in the Premier League, 4 of them penalties. He also scored twice in the Champions League and twice in the FA Cup. It was a strong return for a 34-year-old captain in a reduced role.

His departure was confirmed in January 2015, when Liverpool announced he would leave at the end of the season. The campaign had its low points too, notably a red card just 38 seconds after coming on as a substitute against Manchester United in March. His final Anfield game was on 16 May 2015, a 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, and he received a guard of honour from both teams. His last match was the 6-1 loss at Stoke City on 24 May, in which he scored his 186th and final goal for the club. A Gerrard #8 shirt from this season is a collectible piece of the end of his Liverpool career, after 710 appearances.
