2017 Barcelona Home – Messi #10

Season Overview

The 2017–18 campaign was a season of transition for Barcelona. Neymar left for Paris Saint-Germain after his €222 million release clause was paid. Ernesto Valverde replaced Luis Enrique in the dugout. The season opened badly, with a 5–1 aggregate defeat to Real Madrid in the Supercopa de España. From there the Blaugrana were dominant at home.

Barça won La Liga, taking the title on 29 April 2018 with four matches to spare. They finished with 93 points and went unbeaten until a 5–4 defeat at Levante on matchday 37. They also took the Copa del Rey, beating Sevilla 5–0 in the final for a record-extending 30th cup and a fourth in a row. The Champions League ended in heartbreak. After a 4–1 first-leg win over Roma, Barça lost 3–0 in the return and went out on away goals. For collectors, this is the Valverde double-winning shirt, worn through one of the most dominant league seasons of the decade.

Player's Impact – Lionel Messi

With Neymar gone, Lionel Messi carried the attack in the number 10 shirt. He finished as La Liga's top scorer with 34 league goals and scored 45 in all competitions. That was the engine behind the title. He also scored in the Copa del Rey final rout of Sevilla. He was effectively the focal point of the whole team.

That is why Messi-printed shirts from this season are the ones collectors want. The back print carries the name of the player who powered Barcelona to the domestic double. This one is the genuine Messi #10 home kit from that campaign.
