Season Overview

This white away shirt, trimmed in red and black stripes, comes from AC Milan's 2011–12 campaign. Milan were the defending champions after winning the 2010–11 Serie A. They opened the season by beating Inter 2–1 in the Supercoppa Italiana in Beijing, the club's sixth title in that competition. In the league they built a four-point lead over Juventus by March. Then they won only five of their last nine games, with two draws and two defeats. Juventus took the title by four points and Milan finished second on 80 points, with 24 wins, 8 draws and 6 defeats.

In Europe, Milan reached the Champions League quarter-finals and lost 3–1 on aggregate to Barcelona. In the Coppa Italia they went out in the semi-finals, losing 4–3 on aggregate to Juventus after extra time. It was a season of near misses, but the attack was one of the best in Italy, scoring 74 league goals. For collectors it is the last season of an Ibrahimović-led Milan.

Player's Impact – Zlatan Ibrahimović

Ibrahimović wore number 11 and was the heart of the team. He scored 28 Serie A goals to win the Capocannoniere as the league's top scorer. That made him the first player to finish as top scorer in Italy with two different clubs. He scored 35 goals in all competitions. Milan's next-highest league scorer, Antonio Nocerino, had 10.

The title slipped away, but this was arguably his best season to date, even without a league winner's medal. A shirt with his name and number from this campaign is a good piece of that period.
